Nothing in the Bible applies to us today unless God through the Church teaches that they do. Otherwise, if we were free to decide for ourselves if X OT law applies or not, I can imagine the confusion of picking and choosing which of the 613 old laws are applicable and how. Just look at how Protestant sects are riven with confusion over that and other matters.
