I feel that ever since I began attending mass every week and going to RCIA classes my life and my outlook on life has not really changed that much. Now I believe in what Catholicism teaches and that is the only path to eternal life, and I even get chills during mass, but I have not made many sacrifices. I still do many of the same activities and want the same things that I did and wanted a year ago. Right now I am under the mentality that I recognize that I am a weak human, my will is not strong, and Jesus will redeem all the wrongs in my life.

This lack of a transformation might be because I have been wanting to convert to Catholicism for a few years now, and I might have been transformed when I first started learning about Catholicism.

Where am I in my journey home?

You’re in process, anbd there’s always room to improve. Recognizing that your will is weak and that you need God’s help is a sign of progress. Seek out a holy priest for their advice.

You are in the infancy of your journey…you are just starting.

Just something to ponder…if you want patience, will God instantly zap you and you have patience? Or will God give you the opportunity to exercise and show your patience…by testing your patience?

Likewise, if you pray for courage, will you be instantly zapped and have instant courage or will God give you the opportunity to display your courage so that you can have courage?

With this…God will not instantly transform you…but He will give you the opportunities to transform yourself in whatever growth you desire.

I would suggest, if you have not, to start reading the lives of the saints…how they started and how they grew in their love and humility and spirituality.

I would suggest reading St Augustine’s Confessions…and St. Francis of Assisi’s…Perfect Joy of St. Francis.

HI ANDY,

VERY LIKELY WHERE GOD WANTS YOU TO BE?

FAITH IS A GIFT THAT ONLY GOD CAN GIVE. IT INVOLVES GRACE FROM HIS POSITION AS OUR CREATOR; HUMILITY, SACRIFICE, AND OBEDIENCE FROM OURS.

THE GREATEST SOURCE OF GRACE IS THE SEVEN CATHOLIC SACRAMENTS INSTITUTED BY CHRIST FOR THAT VERY PURPOSE.😃

ONCE YOU ARE ABLE TO FULLY AND ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN THEM; MOST ESPECIALLY CONFESSION AND CATHOLIC HOLY COMMUNION; ONES INNER SELF OUGHT TO BE SLOWLY CONFORMED AS YOU BECOME MORE CONFIRMED IN YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND BELIEFS.👍

FAITH-FORMATION IS A PROCESS. LEARING, LIVING AND APPLYING WHAT IS SHARED. ASKING QUESTIONS WHEN YOU HAVE DOUBTS OR CONCERNS AND STAYING CLOSE TO GOD. ESPECIALLY BENEFICIAL ARE EUCHARISTIC ADORATION AND THE ROASRY.

ALLOW GOD TO ACT IN YOU! … PRAY MUCH AND CONTINUE TO STUDY AND LEARN OUR CATHOLIC FAITH.

YOUR IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS,
PAT/PJM

Let’s consider your journey to be like going on a long backpacking trip.

Right now you’ve just left the car at the trailhead. You’re still messing with the pack straps, tightening bootlaces, and warming up the stiff muscles you got sitting in the car for hours. It’s time to just relax and appreciate the scenery around you and know that this is going to be a great trip, even if there will be some switchbacks and obstacles on the trail. Don’t think about them - just keep moving forward. You’ll loosen up and hit your stride soon enough.
