Who says mandatory celibacy is contrary to the deposit of the faith? Jesus was celibate; so was Paul; and Paul also highly recommended the celibate state to others (cf. 1 Cor. 7:8-9, 32-35).
In any case, celibacy is not a doctrine of the Church. Although it does not contradict the deposit of the faith, it is an ancient spiritual discipline that can be modified by legitimate ecclesial authority. In other words, it is the Church that is the competent theological authority that determines what spiritual disciplines will be required of men who seek ordination to the priesthood. To date, the Church has considered mandatory celibacy to be a necessary good for priests of the Latin rite of the Church.
