About all I know is that it’s in the Newman Guide and have a Catholic Studies program. Could someone who has attended UMary tell me a little bit more about the culture, campus atmosphere, etc.?

I don’t go to UMary and know nothing about it. I only know this one website, of which is commonly used at one university, that has reviews that range from perfect to downright misleading:

This site can talk about professors and schools.

Don’t change your position or expectation based off of this site.

If you don’t know anything about it, and you know your source is unreliable, why say anything at all? Seriously.

I do know about the University of Mary, firsthand. I know someone who graduated from there. It’s a very up and coming Catholic university with a strong emphasis on healthcare programs, true to its roots as a nursing school. But they also have excellent departments in the liberal arts, including Theology, Philosophy, and, as the OP noted, a great Catholic Studies program. The campus has undergone a lot of upgrades in the last few years, and they are planning a lot more expansion, including a medical school and dental school within the next decade or so. The campus culture seems great, with faculty and students taking part in daily Mass and Eucharistic adoration. And they’re among the less expensive Catholic universities in the US.

From all I know about it, I’d say I would recommend it to someone looking for a Catholic college.

The sheer number of universities that are mentioned on that site are useful for comparison. Individual comments are unreliable, but trends can be seen that no one would dare admit. For the University I was at, I agree with 70% of the reviews.

Also, the only way of knowing the uncomfortable parts of any University are to ask current students or go online to dubious sites, since every advertising material for every University only shows what is good.
