,My confirmation name ‘Maria’ Is used as my middle name. I have used it since I was confirmed at the age of eight and it is legally my name on all important documents. Alot of people use their confirmation as their. middle name which it is. God Bless
I also chose Maria as my Confirmation name when I was 8 years old and used it as my legal middle name for years and years. After 9-11, my state took a hard line about what is and isn’t a legal name. My confirmation name isn’t on any official document such as my birth certificate or any official “name change” court document. I had to stop using it and that really upset me – I miss it.

Choosing a Confirmation name is not something that was done back in 1960 in the parish where I lived. We were confirmed at the age of 7 so not something we could have easily researched either, what with no library close by. My first name is that of our Blessed Mother (as was the case for most of my female classmates) and my second name (which is the one I use) is one of the saints from the Old Testament.
My Confirmation was in the mid-1950s in third grade. We were 8 yrs old and were all encouraged to choose a saint’s name (and back then your Baptismal name also had to be a saint’s name). My family had lots of suggestions 😄 and I chose Maria mainly because I liked it. The 2 girls to the right of me at the altar rail chose Mary and then Marie and then I was Maria. 😙

I chose St Nicholas the Bishop of Myra because I love Christmas time - the real Christmas - mass, giving, sharing and just that special peaceful moment on Christmas morning. I didn’t know much about many Saints and as I was confirmed as an adult, at least I had the freedom to chose a male or female saint.

Sigh, I know we are supposed to be Easter people but I am a Christmas person.

As said I used mine and still do. It is on all documents except of course my Baptismal. certificate i do not understand, we took the name of a patron Saint, why do we have to hide it? After that horrific day 9-11 there were alot of changes. How they even come to question your middle name I hope the day comes when you may again use it.God Bless.

I chose Elizabeth after John the Baptist’s. Mother and my mother in law. I also have always loved the name

Justin. At the time I thought I was being easy choosing it as my first name is Justin however I have realized to come to very much appreciate it. Justin Martyr was hugely influential in the early Church.

St. Maurice, martyr commanders of the Thebian Roman Legion. I picked him because I liked his courage and he was a military figure and at the time I was planning on joining the military. I ended up not going in the military but I still value his example and intercession.

Was confirmed before my big “reversion” back to Catholicism. I picked Joseph because it is my Grandfather’s middle name.

After my “reversion”, well, obviously Joseph is a good name to have as a confirmation name.
