What does everyone’s daily routine look like? I really need a consistent daily routine going on in my life, and just looking for some examples of how everyone organizes their daily lives.

I wake up and then I wonder what time it is. Then I wait for my arthritic knee to say “ouch”. Then I ask what day it is. Then I either go back to sleep or slowly get up. If I try to go back to sleep and my neck hurts, I get up anyway.
After achieving standing pose, I limp to my desk and check the time. 5.00am. Ok better walk the dog. is it light yet? No. Oh well. better check CAF.
Checks CAF. Oh! Look at all my notifications! I must be getting popular! Oops no it means I’m getting more unpopular. Look at all those people destroying my weak arguments, laughing at my debating skills. I must be like fresh meat to them.
Logs out.

This really depends on your state of life right now. I’m a single, 18-year-old kid in college, so what I do may not be something you can do but hey, maybe there’s another single, 18-year-old college kid on this forum wondering the same thing.

When do I wake up? Depends. I try and make it to morning Mass which starts at 7:30 am, but I’m a sleepyhead, so some days I’ll wake up in time to go, other times I won’t. Trying to work on that, though. Other days, like Saturdays, I’ll be in the gym in the mornings around 9, as there isn’t Mass in the morning then. where I go I usually pray for a bit when I wake up then I’ll get on with getting ready and such.

After Mass I’ll get ready for going to classes or work, depending on the day. I’ll eat a little something, then read a passage from Scripture, and then head out.

Throughout the day, I’m going from class to class, or I’m at work. I try and take some time out to pray every now and then. I have a history of struggling with anxiety disorders, so I’m also contending with that. Some days are good, others bad.

Then in the afternoons/late afternoons I do whatever studying/homework/writing I have to do, and I also waste a lot of time, too. Some nights I go to the gym (which I try and to at least 4 times a week). At night, before bed, I’ll read some more Scripture and pray the Rosary, then get to bed.

Do I always stick to this schedule? No. Some days I slack. Some days I sleep too late. Some days I get terrible anxiety and it throws my whole day off.

I’ve found it’s helpful to find a couple of devotions and stick to them, and make them a part of your day. I like to start and end the day in prayer, whether it be the Rosary, or a couple of Our Fathers, or just telling God about how my day went and asking Him for his mercy, guidance, etc. for tomorrow.

Hello.

I work nights part time so I start my day at night. Racing thoughts usually wake me. The first thing I have to do is pet my dog. He insists upon it. He acts like I’ve been gone for 10 years and demands to be hugged, petted, and I have to tell him that he’s no longer a stray, but stuck with me and my husband. Then I go & see what my husband is doing. Then I get dressed for the day and then I try not to get sidetracked and spend some time doing some spiritual reading. Then I try to figure out what’s most important to get done today.

The Flylady website is most helpful to get yourself organized & on track. There’s also a book called “Live Well Today” that has suggestions on how to get your day organized. And, surprise of surprises, in the Catholic missal in the back there are directions on how to get organized for the day.

It’s really hard for me to stick to a routine. Do you use a calendar?

For 5 days a week I’m a stay at home mom.

On those days I’m home, I get up at 6, make my tea and say morning prayers while youngest dd gets ready for school. Then I drive her to bus stop and get ready.
Then I get out my to do list and complete tasks, visiting CAF during periodic breaks and lunch time.

I try and do everything before the kids come home. Then my time is dedicated to them, either at home or at an activity.i start personal evening prayers typically while homework is done, and after that dh and I relax.

My work days are similar but I can’t visit here until late at night.
I never have a day to sleep in.

Middle-aged married woman, no kids.

Get up by 6:15, usually earlier. (By 6:15, three alarms on three different devices have sounded.) “Serviam!”
Pray Lauds. Fix breakfast for The Husband (I don’t eat until after Mass).
Six days out of seven, serve Mass as sacristan.
After Mass, take care of whatever needs doing in the sacristy. Four days per week, open rectory for those who work in the office (long story why I have a key and they don’t). Occasionally, serve a funeral as sacristan and altar server.
Once a week, pray the rosary and other prayers (one hour total praying time) for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
Have breakfast.
Run errands.
Pray Daytime Prayer (Terce, Sext, None - but only one).
Start whatever housework needs doing.
Have lunch.
Continue housework. Once a week, wash and iron altar linen.
Pray Vespers. Start preparing dinner.
Wait for The Husband to come home from work.
Have dinner and chat with The Husband about his day.
Put away any leftovers and load dishwasher.
Pray Compline.
Go to sleep sometime between 11:30 and 1:30.

Once a week, two hours of Eucharistic Adoration preempts everything from “Start preparing dinner” through “Put away any leftovers and load dishwasher.” The Husband is on his own those evenings.

Now…this is usually punctuated by numerous telephone interruptions, unexpected trips to the church to handle emergencies, unscheduled trips to the rectory to help Father with something or another, TV, CAF, etc. but that’s the way it generally goes. Between my ill husband, my needy pastor and the Mass service, there’s no sleeping in for me, either.

When I stick too it perfectly, it should look something like this:

5:00 AM = Get up, shower, brush teeth, get dressed, etc…
5:30-5:45 AM = Prepare breakfast and lunch for the day, Pray the Litany of Humility
5:45 AM = Fill water bottles, grab back pack, and leave for Adoration
6:00-6:36 AM = Spend time praying, reflecting, and reading at adoration
6:36 AM = Leave for work
7:15 AM = Arrive at work, read emails, handle any urgent matters
7:45 AM = Pray the Prayer of St. Francis
11:00 AM = Pray the Pater Noster
3:00 PM = Pray the Anima Christi
4:15 PM = Leave work
5:15 PM = Arrive home, greet wife, children, help prepare dinner
6:30-7:30 PM = Prepare kids for bed
7:30-8:30 PM = Fill out Examen Journal with wife and discuss our success and failures throughout the day
8:30- X:XX PM = Watch shows together on Netflix, read books, talk, etc…
X:XX PM = Thank God for the day and pass out from exhaustion and do it all over again in the morning

This is the ideal perfect schedule I try to follow, though when you have 6 kids and are a youth minister, wrenches often get thrown into the plans.

While I am at work, I am often times left with downtime while waiting for various computer tasks to complete, and sometimes there is just nothing to do. In those times, I try to read scripture or do other spiritual reading, and I hang out on Catholic Answers Forums.

I’m a homeschooling mom of 7 kids.

Get up around 8:30am, pray while drinking coffee, do spiritual reading for about 30min, attend to my kiddos and schoolwork all morning, with other chores thrown in there as I can manage, like laundry, and checking CAF during breaks.

Written Examen at 11:30am, Stations of the Cross with kiddos during Lent, lunch.

Quiet time after lunch. This may include reading, napping, playing quietly, prayer/meditation.

In the afternoon after quiet time, it’s yoga and chores for me, play for the kids. At 5pm we start cleaning and making dinner. Dinner when Dad comes home around 6:30. Then clean up and playing/ chatting/ relaxing with Dad.

Family prayer time at 10pm. My second written Examen at 11.

Read myself to sleep. Zzzzzzz.

All of this gets thrown out the window if I have to deal with dentist appointments or have to leave the house for anything… And on Wednesdays I usually take the morning to go to Adoration and the grocery store with most of the kids.

Hello.

Hilarious how you call him “The Husband.” I may start doing that for my husband, too. 😄

I’m single and I’m full time work so my day can usually be as structured or as flexible as I like outside work. I find it helps to have set times to do certain things though as I suffer anxiety and don’t cope very well with disruptions to routine.

Usually goes something like this:
6:00am - Angelus and cup of coffee
6:15 - Morning Office
6:30/35 - Readings of the day and short reflection
7:20 - leave for work (on the way I say certain other devotions and a decade of the rosary before going into work)
12:00 - Angelus (if I remember and I’m not occupied with something else)
4:00 - home
6:00 - Angelus and Evening Office
(6 or 7 on some days - Mass, depending on work load and availability; adoration if I’m able to beforehand)
9:00 - Devotions and Rosary
10:30/11 - Bed (which usually means reading or listening to the radio until I fall asleep)

The Offices of the day and the rosary are the staples of my day. They keep me focused and provide routine for me. Morning and Evening Prayer at a set time each day can really help to establish a routine if that’s what you’re looking for.
