What is your dream job?

When I was much younger my dream job would have been rock star.
Now that I am older, and just a tad wiser, I see that through the grace of God,
that was not His will for me, and for my own good.

You see, if I had “made it” as a successful musician, I know for a fact that I would have
been caught up in a lot of nasty stuff that I would not have been able to resist…
partying, disrespectful actions with girls, etc. I think you get the picture.

Now that I am much older and more cognizant of my responsibilities to God and man,
I think if I found success now, I would be able to safely resist all of those temptations.
I guess now it would be a dream job.

However, after now working for around 35 years in low-grade, low-paying boring go-nowhere jobs,
and with hopefully only about ten years to go to retirement and being totally burned out and
stressed out, I would have to say that my real dream job today is to not have to work at all.

Pursuing my music, song-writing, singing and photography purely as a hobby would be a dream job now.

I pray that you find solace my friend. That, daily you retreat to that quiet, private place with your thoughts resting in the Lord.
In my plan I still have a few more years of formal work to do before I can consider an early semi-retirement. But then again, the Lord’s plan supersedes mine. You and I have been spared from the “rock scene”…we are where the Lord wanted us and not in the bowels of imagined success. The Lord rescued us.

I’m with the previous posters: stay at home mom.

I’m a writer/editor now, and it’s something I could (and would) do from home, but I can’t find anyone who will let me.

Benevolent king. Legislating, adjudicating, building up the infrastructure, making sure the economy rolls and the less business-savvy people aren’t getting oppressed…

Probably wouldn’t make a horrible bishop or cardinal if I had the calling.

In fact, a job in the law field wouldn’t be bad. I’m thinking something academic and a public office or a judicial post or private practise. Then I could become the President…

There are so many jobs I’d love to do!
I’d like to be a tour guide, but the pay is always low for that. I’d really like to set up my own tour company, offering custom tours to fit a group’s interests. That’d be fun.

Then I’d like to do something publishing-related. I really enjoy proofreading, and I’ve got a dozen ideas for non-fiction books which I just don’t have time to write. If I had my own publishing business, I could work on my own books when business was slow.

I make good bread and cookies, and several people have told me I should start selling them. I’m not interested in baking enough to run a bakery full time, but I could see making a huge batch of cookies every day and having regular customers pick them up.

Whatever my job is, I want it to be one where I’ll be home with my future children. That’s why the idea of running my own business appeals so much. My boyfriend is like-minded, and would love to open up a car accessories and paint shop. I’ve heard that it costs a lot of money to open that kind of business, though. I wish I had enough money to make his dream come true, too.
