I’m very excited about Phillip Glass’ “Akhnaten” at the Met (will see it Live in HD on the 24th).

Saw Met’s “Madama Butterfly” last weekend and was once again brought to tears.

It is so difficult to choose a favorite! It is usually the Opera I saw most recently 😉

Any other devotees here?

You may enjoy Verde’s bel canto Nabucco even more than Akhnaten…especially “Va Pensiero”.

But, as far as favorites…hard to say…I love Puccini, Verde, Wagner, and the most haunting aria in my mind is Queen of the Night from Mozart’s the Magic Flute.

My mother would alternate between Madama Butterfly and La Traviata. I would play the Merry Widow but that’s the English version.

I’m seriously considering the Met On Demand, it is $15 per month and I know I’d watch enough to make it count.

I tried it and cancelled…seemed good, but just didn’t work for me…it never synched well with my smart TV, leaving me to view on tablet or computer, and just wasn’t the same compared to big screen and surround sound.

But that’s just me…try it, you can always get 7 days free, and if you aren’t happy, it was very easy to cancel, and they have never bothered me about it.

Enjoy!

I tend to do most of my viewing on my Chromebook when I am “laid up in bed” with pain. I have good headphones so the sound would be excellent, but, don’t own a big TV 🙂

I can’t claim to have ever been a big fan of opera, but two I like are Don Giovanni and Richard Strauss’ Salome.
