Of the main characters, Charlie Brown. Snoopy and Woodstock tied for second.

So, in the spirit of “who’s your favourite Peanuts character”…

Who’s your favourite Muppet?

I generally like Kermit…he’s sort of Everyman, the Only Sane One, sort of like Bugs Bunny of Loony Tunes. But of the others:

Fave Muppet Show character: Gonzo the Great! That fellow treats each failure like a resounding success.

Fave Sesame Street character: Your old pal Grover. I think he’s rather adorkable.

BTW, I cannot **stand **Elmo.

I once had a Snoopy t-shirt.
On Saturday morning inside a Starbucks, there was a young man with a t-shirt. It had Snoopy on the front wearing glasses and the word NERD. Snoopy’s cool, so I guess being a nerd is cool.🤓

By the way, I wear reading glasses. Am I a nerd? 🤷

I had the Java Chip Frappuccino blended. But that’s for another thread.

.
I’ve known children who couldn’t read yet asking their parents and older siblings to read “Snoopy” for them. I saw some arguing over whether the strip is named “Charlie Brown” or “Snoopy” and it’s usually the littlest ones who think it’s “Snoopy,” and sometimes they’ve cried when challenged.

Charles M. Schulz, the cartoonist, said that Charlie Brown was a composite character, largely based on his own experience in childhood.
.

Schulz was an interesting and often deeply troubled man. He managed to turn his deep unhappiness in childhood, his lack of success in early life, his marital discord, and the horrors he experienced in WWII (he was one of the first troops into Dachau) into a strip that touched Americans for years.

Even though I’m a girl, I had the self-esteem issues so I identified a lot with Charlie Brown as a kid. :o But I could be grumpy and a “fussbudget” so there’s also - to this day - an inner Lucy in me. :bigyikes: And Linus was so profound with his theology and adorable in his sweet crush on his teacher Miss Othmar. ❤️

Snoopy and Woodstock, what’s not to love? Since I like bunnies, and so did my parents, we would always get a kick out of the strips where Frieda would try to get Snoopy to hunt rabbits and he’d sneak off and dance with them - sooo cute and funny. In fact, some of our best family in-jokes were from Peanuts strips.

There were also the characters in the imagination of the characters, especially Snoopy - the WWI Flying Ace, Joe Cool, the vulture perched on the tree, the novelist, the attorney . . . oh, and how about Lucy - Psychiatric Help 5 cents, the Doctor is In! 😃

What’s not to love about all the Peanuts Gang? Even snarky Violet and Patty (the non-Peppermint one) had their good moments too.

Makes me want to go out and buy the whole set of the collected works . . . I’ve checked a few out from the library and they’re awesome - the early ones are so different. I don’t remember Charlotte Braun, I’ll have to try and find more about her - how intriguing.

A rare appearance by adults in an early strip, which seems really odd. Lucy Van Pelt, when first introduced, had circles around her pupils, unlike other characters. That went away (although they make a brief reappearance in this strip), but she had Linus both had vestigial arcs surrounding their pupils throughout the strp, which was apparently a Van Pelt family trait:

Thank you for this. I haven’t been able to find my old Peanuts books.
I liked the times of the less than perfectly round headed Charlie Brown.
Is it me or was Snoopy a little more, um, dastardly in the beginning? Not seriously so, but a little?
