What is your favorite restaurant

Now that we are in lockdown and the restaurants are closed, thoughts turn to eating out. For me this is unusual since I’m not one to eat out a lot. So, my question is - which restautan/food are you missing the most? Italian, Chinese, Ethiopian? What’s your preference?

We ordered Thai food tonight. It’s definitely among our favorites.

My kitchen. Always has been, always will be…part of the allure is the creating!

I kind of like Indian food, spicy, a lot of it is vegetarian, and it isn’t too terribly hard for me to make. Also, I like some Middle Eastern food. Especially falafel.

I have to agree that I like my own cooking too, like @dscath, so I haven’t been missing anything food wise.

I do miss going out for breakfast once a month or so with my friend. Usually Cracker Barrel. 😊

We have a little hole-in-the-wall raw/vegan place here in our suburban town that’s a bit of a Mecca for aging hippies.
You walk in, there’s a broken down old sofa in the one corner with a coffee table piled high with counter- culture magazines and books for sale and herb remedies, a few tables and chairs and lots of pre made soups and stuff.
The owner makes a really tasty frozen treat using banana as the base instead of ice cream and the texture is very smooth.

I go there when I want to play at being bohemian.

We’ve managed to order take-out from most of our favorites, trying to help them stay afloat.

One beloved local greasy spoon either couldn’t make it work or found it untenable and has closed for keeps

Oh my! Too many to list. There is a place in Wichita called Sabor Latin Grill. Their paella is amazing.

My kitchen.
Ditto on that! I find it absurd to outsource something as intimate as that which will be put in my body, for top dollar no less, with nothing near homemade quality.

You are so right about that. Even with my limited kitchen skills, I still prefer to eat my own food. And I really find it hard to find a restaurant I would like to return to after trying it once.

Mexican food. I dined in my favorite Mexican food today. It was good. Fresh homemade chips that come hot from the oven to the table.

Chinese…NEVER! 🦇

I prefer and so does my husband, my own kitchen…the food is homemade…buttermilk biscuits, baked oatmeal cookies, pot of pintos, taco casserole, meatloaf,…etc.! The other day I cooked two steaks in a cast-iron skillet with herbs and spices and it was superb! 🥘 🍝 🍪 🥩

Pizza and salad buffets. There isn’t one near me, but I look for these when I travel. Not long ago, my family and I went to Cici’s in Texas (its “home state”).

Point of order: the thread should be favorite chain restaurant so everyone knows what is being discussed and violent disagreements can break. No local joints.

Ah, then I’m out. We generally avoid chains and go for the mom and pop stand-alone places.

Went to a crazy local diner in Rochester NY. Last year, while traveling. Pretty good food.

Which probably means you have good taste, but we can’t fight about it unless we both know the restaurant and what is the internet without pointless arguing?
