What is your opinion of this prayer?

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
and through the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

In order to increase efficacy, this is Pope Leo XIII’s prayer to St. Michael with an additional part from one of the prayers that Mary and the angels taught the children of Fatima to pray:

“Most Holy Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit- I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges, and indifferences whereby He is offended. And through the infinite merits of His Most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners.”
 
It has tremendous worth when said with daily perseverance. But yet, that would be a grace that many people do not receive. Regardless, the heart would be the area of concern rather than the matter and its effect. A question a reader may ask: Do I have the gift of prayer? (cf. CCC 2559) We are moved by order of intention and order of execution.

“Accordingly in this order (order of execution), love precedes desire, and desire precedes pleasure. But in the order of intention, it is the reverse: because the pleasure intended causes desire and love.” (STh I-II, Q. 25, a. 2, c.) God makes use of these orders when we come to the chapel to pray!
 
I would rather rewrite it in my own words not using “Thee” and “Thou”.
 
Since you asked for my opinion, I may freely say that I myself do not credit angels and demons for much that goes on in this world. Therefore I would have some reservations if I were to pray the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel. However, I understand that many Catholics take angels and demons more seriously, and this is a fine prayer for them. I am happy to see that it correctly recognizes that all of St. Michael’s power comes from God through Jesus with Mary’s intercession.

The second prayer has me confused at the moment. Specifically, how is it that we can offer the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ to the Most Holy Trinity, and how is that offering of God to God efficacious for the reparation for sins?

But St Michael the Archangel pre-existed Mary. The whole story about him casting Satan was before she was born,

I’ve never thought about this before but it appears that things changed after Our Lady was assumed bodily into heaven and crowned Queen of Heaven and Earth. The Holy Queen was been given an important role and has authority over the angels.

This exactly what happens at Mass. The priest offers the body, blood, soul and divinity of Christ to the Holy Trinity in atonement for our sins. The prayers of the Extraordinary Form make this very clear. Christ is the Lamb of God who was sacrificed to save us. The Holy Mass in an unbloody manner perpetuates this one sacrifice.
 
The prayer to St. Michael is very powerful. I was once in a very desperate situation and kept reciting this prayer over and over .Their is no doubt that my prayer was heard. Pope Leo XIII composed the prayer after he had a vision of a fearful battle between Satan and St.Michael over the church of the future. Indulgence by Pope Leo XIII September 25. 1888. Please say this prayer daily.

Because we all share in the priesthood of all believers, and because an infinite sacrifice has infinite merits which are able to satisfy infinite justice.
