And I think that you have judged the posters here off even less information.

Not sure why you reserve for yourself the right to judge but object to others doing the same thing. 🤷
I didn’t mean to come across that way. I wasn’t talking about everyone, I was talking about the posts calling her talentless, an attention whore, mocking Jesus etc. She’s actually got a great deal of talent, and she has a point behind everything she does…it’s well thought out, unlike Miley Cyrus as this past year’s VMA’s for example. I think that’s an example of someone doing something soley for attention with no point behind it.

Here’s an example of a performance she did a few years ago that I thought was absolutely genius. It’s about fame, what people will do for it, and how they will even die for it.

Although I can see why people disagree with what she stands for, in no way is she mocking Jesus.

I get your point. Calling someone a ā€œtalentless hackā€ when we don’t like them is an easy insult to make. But just because we don’t like someone does not mean they have no talent.

I’m not that familiar with her output, but she does strike me as a fairly competent crafter of pop music. If I liked pop music, maybe I’d like her music. 🤷

I’m sure she thinks she only stands for good. I would bet she is quite sincere. But not everything she stands for (such as gay marriage) actually is good. And I don’t think anyone can be surprised that her antics and wardrobe choices leave people scratching their heads and finding her to be a bit … odd. I would venture to guess that’s part of the point.

Sure, we don’t judge her soul. She may make it to heaven before me. Who can say? But we can still find her actions bizarre. We can still dislike her music. And we can still question whether her opinions on various issues are the correct ones.
Thank you for your response, I completely see what you mean. šŸ™‚ Yeah a lot of what she does is so out there that people just scratch their heads…I did too at first a few years back, but I was interested and started learning about her, she’s actually kind of a genius in the pop music world haha.

This is kind of interesting to watch, I like how she handles it. There was some protester outside her concert (one of the ā€œYou’re going to hellā€ type of people) and she stopped to talk to him….of course he bashes Catholics but I would not expect anything less from that kind of person.

Well, I think that sounds like you’re judging.

Just sayinā€™ā€¦šŸ¤·

I don’t have a problem with judging. In fact, I think we are commanded to judge.

What I do have a problem with is those people who condemn others for judging…while they judge others.

Fair enough.

I like Lady Gaga a lot. She’s one of the most talented artists in Pop music today…great great piano player, great songwriter, and she’s got a great voice….she’s sung many different genres like Pop, Rock, Country, R&B, Jazz, Broadway, Classical, and tons more, and nailed them all.
As a Lady Gaga fan myself, I didn’t like ā€œArtpopā€ (her most recent album.) I thought ā€œBorn This Wayā€ (her last album) was better and I wish ā€œScheißeā€ would have been released as a single. Also, I would respectfully disagree that she has done country. Country?

Aw I like Artpop, I love the variety it has. Her voice seems like its gotten so much better as well, it really shines on ā€œDo What U Wantā€. I like the concept behind the album campaign as well, kind of reverse Pop Art….Pop culture used to be (and still is) referenced in art, like Andy Warhol and his Pop Art. And what is happening now is people are starting to put art back into Pop culture (she is an element of Pop culture, and she’s putting art into what she does by working with artists like Jeff Koons, who designed her album artwork and made a sculpture of her). She explained it as how there’s the soup can art, and now they’re putting art back onto the actual soup can, putting it on something commercial. Another example is how Andy Warhol is on Perrier bottles.

I loved Born This Way too though, it was a little more interesting and not as safe as Artpop.

As far as country goes, she released a ā€œCountry Roadā€ version of Born This Way a few years ago, kind of a country/rock twist on the song:

She also performed ā€œYou and Iā€ with Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland….the song definitely has a country flare to it.

I really like her music - it makes me want to get off my lazy buns and dance. I’ve not really listened to any if her new stuff. Thank you for that link Cheezey. My husband was surprised it was her singing when I was listening to it just now.

For those who may not like Pop music, here’s a few things you might enjoy.

Here’s her doing the jazz standard ā€œOrange Colored Skyā€:

And here’s a video of her doing a jazz/piano version of Poker Face, really really great.

And one more, a video of her performing her song ā€œDo What U Wantā€ acoustic on the piano:

That might sound like a song about sex, but its actually not…. ā€œdo what you want with my bodyā€ is a metaphor. Here’s how she explained it in an interview:

"When I wrote ā€˜Do What U Want’, I was on tour traveling around the world and my mother called me and she said, ā€œYou’re on the news…and you look really fat.ā€ And I said, ā€œWhat do you mean?ā€ laughs She says, ā€œI don’t-…are you okay? Did you gain weight?ā€ I said, ā€œWhat are you talking about? I’m on the news? For my weight? Really?ā€ It’s so shallow and crazy, we live in a world where there’s wars and there’s famine and illness, but I’m on the news for my weight? This is so silly to me, I don’t believe you.

So then I saw that it was true and I thought about how sad this is. Not for me. For me with my body I’ve had a struggle since I was very young. Do I think that it’s insensitive? Sure. Especially since I’ve been so vocal about my body image problems and my addictions over the years. It’s a certain kind of person that I am that I think a lot of young people can relate to. And these sorts of statements can really throw you off and make you get lost in your mind into that dark place, that place of self-hatred, of sadness. So I wanted to release all of that. When I wrote this song I was writing about how my body is something that the public knows—my image—I am a vessel. But if I am treated this way, this is all I will give you. I will just give you my body. You will not have my heart or my mind, because you don’t deserve it. I give my heart and my mind to my fans. That is who deserves it because they receive it with love. When I’m on stage with them there’s this amazing spiritual experience that takes place where there’s a transfer of energy, of kindness and love and acceptance between us. But when this negativity starts to fly, this is not what I’m about. This is when I start to close as an artist, and I start to protect my mind and heart."
