First, I apologize to the moderation if the topic is repeated. I researched, a little I would say, and could not get answers to my question.

I would like music recommendations. They cannot be chant, must be instrumental music. Specially, calm musics.

And nothing after the baroque, like romanticism. Is Vivaldi a good compositor? What about Bach and his Air and Fugue musics? What are good medieval musics?

I have read that music express ideas. It must includes the instrumental ones. How can I know if a song leads me to God or not?

EDIT: I would highlight the organ and violin sounds.

Vivaldi is great! I especially like his lute concertos (not very calm but great). You can also try something by Arcangelo Corelli (concerti grossi are very nice) or some recorder pieces by Telemann.

Vivaldi is my all time favorite. I have 54 cd’s of his music and never tire of them.

I would say that anything that makes you want to share your thoughts and feelings with God is good. If listening to specific music is a prayerful conversation starter then you know.

I’m currently studying and meditating on Handel’s Messiah’s lyrics.

Well, if you have a particular interest in organ music, Bach is pretty much your starting point, especially if you like Baroque. Vivaldi and Handel are both great, although I have less experience with them.

I’m afraid that the romantic and early modern periods are my favorites, so I don’t know how much help I’d be. But they’re worth giving a chance! Some of the most interesting organ music comes out of these periods, in my opinion.

His compositions are really good, particularly in his sequences. There is a wide range of purely instrumental and also sacred music to choose from so chances are that something will work.

Religious music: Chant (Byzantine & Gregorian)

Secular: Mozart, Strauss, anything classical

I like classical music too…but lately I have been listening to smooth Jazz Instrumentals…good meditation music. I just finished praying my Rosary and this music is so peaceful to me. 🎷 I also like the traditional, religious music.

Which of the 4 seasons is the best to listen to? Which is the calmest?

The Four Season are have two fast movements enclosing a slow one. Of the slow ones Summer has a tremolo that makes it sound fast, while Autumn would be the slowest with its whole notes and ties. Since each is around ten minutes you can listen to one over the course of four days. I’d also reccomending listening to one of the videos that has a score so it is easier to follow along.
