What is it in your opinion that makes the Bible the word of God? Many say that it is the fulfillment of prophecy, if you subscribe to that point of view what prophecy in particular do you see as having been fulfilled?
With respect to the NT, why do we see Jesus life as the fulfillment of the prophecies of the OT, but the Jews do not?

Hi FF,

We do not accept the Bible on internal criteria. We accept the Bible as the Word of God because that is how it was received by the Church from apostolic tradition. The Church does not “approve” the Bible; it receives it.

Absolutely, but what is it about the Bible that makes you believe what it says?

In my case, the first thing was to believe in Jesus, to discover He exists and is God and cares about me and loves me. Then it came naturally to believe in His word.

God bless

If I understand your question, you really are asking, “what makes you accept that the bible is true?”
the bible is true because it is revealed by God, my acceptance does not affect its truth. Jews do not recognize Jesus as the fulfillment of OT prophecy, because as he demonstrated many times in his dialogues with their leadership they did not fully understand the scriptures. that is why he took such care in explaining the entire scripture and their fulfillment in him to the apostles, so they could pass on that knowledge through the Church. That is the main action between Christ and the apostles in the period between the Resurrection and the Ascension.

HI FF,

As I said, there is nothing IN the bible that makes make accept it as the word of God. I accept it as part of the Tradition that is been handed down to the Church.

Do I make myself clear?
