- so attached to the TLM that they refuse to accept the validity of the NO? believe that V2 was a heretical council? schismatic?
- prefer the indult TLM but accept the NO as valid?
- prefer the NO but have no problem with an indult TLM?
Code:A point of emphasis for those in categories 2 & 3. These people accept the authority of the Church and her Bishops. They follow Church teachings to the best of their ability including the "tough" ones. - attend Mass regularily but question the Church’s stances. Perhaps they practice artificial birth control or believe that woman can be priests or are “personally opposed” to abortion but wouldn’t “force their religious beliefs on others.”
- actively oppose the Church and her teachings. They might be members of Catholics for a Free Choice or Call to Action.
I truly have no idea. Before these forums, I had only a vague understanding of the SSPX and didn’t realize there was an indult TLM. Obviously, my personal experience of 0% of the Catholic population in categories 1 & 2 is not a good sample size. The only people I know of in category 5 are the newsmaker ones - I know of no one personally who fits that description.
I find it interesting that no matter which group a person belongs to, they truly feel they are “Catholic”. I know many of us would argue that some can’t truly claim the title but that’s not the point of this thread. I purposely did not put labels or names on these categories; I don’t want this thread to get ugly.
Of course, feel free to redefine or categorize my groups.
