Good morning all,
Tomorrow marks 4 years that my beloved husband when with our good Lord. For the past four years I’ve held rosaries at my home and many friends and families join to pray. I have a lot of support and I thank the Lord for it. After the rosary I like to read a scripture from the bible. I don’t know which one to read. I am looking for one that expresses the pain that I have since I have lost him. Last week would have been our 20th wedding anniversary. I am very very sad. My kids (we have 2) and I miss him very much. I feel so lost without him because we loved each other very much. I am in so much pain right now so if I make no sense in what I am writing please forgive me. Any scripture recommendatins? I am also Catholic.
God Bless,
Sasolano

May God bless you and console you. Here are some that might help:

Wisdom 3:1-9:
But the souls of the just are in the hand of God, and no torment shall touch them. They seemed, in the view of the foolish, to be dead; and their passing away was thought an affliction and their going forth from us, utter destruction. But they are in peace. For if before men, indeed, they be punished, yet is their hope full of immortality; Chastised a little, they shall be greatly blessed, because God tried them and found them worthy of himself. As gold in the furnace, he proved them, and as sacrificial offerings he took them to himself. In the time of their visitation they shall shine, and shall dart about as sparks through stubble; They shall judge nations and rule over peoples, and the LORD shall be their King forever. Those who trust in him shall understand truth, and the faithful shall abide with him in love: Because grace and mercy are with his holy ones, and his care is with the elect.
John 11:21-27:
Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. (But) even now I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you.” Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise.” Martha said to him, “I know he will rise, in the resurrection on the last day.” Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” She said to him, “Yes, Lord. I have come to believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one who is coming into the world.”
Isaiah 41:10:
Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with My victorious right hand.
1 Peter 5:7:
Cast all your anxieties on Him, for He cares about you.
Psalm 23:4:
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
Psalm 34:18:
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit.
2 Corinthians 1:3–5:
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.
Psalm 94:18–19:
When I thought, “My foot slips,” Thy steadfast love, O Lord, held me up. When the cares of my heart are many, Thy consolations cheer my soul.
Psalm 30:11–12:
Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing; Thou hast loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness, that my soul may praise Thee and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to Thee for ever.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Would your husband want you to be sad? He is home now with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. I know you miss him, but he is and will always be a part of you. I am sure he wants you to be happy.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son: that whosoever believeth in him may not perish, but may have life everlasting.

Thank you PhilotheaZ,
they are all so beautiful. I think I will read John 11:21-27. I read them all and found that the one I just mentioned gave me more comfort.

Good afternoon Oblaidon,
Thanks I think. I know he wouldn’t want me to be sad but the closer I get to tomorrow, the more anxiety I get. I just miss him so much and he has missed so many special occasions my daughters first communion, my son’s confirmation, my son driving (he was a mechanic and my son needs a mechanic) so many things. I can’t help feeling this way. I know he is here and watching over us, but this isn’t very comforting especially when I want to share something with him that happened or something that is coming up and I can’t pick up the phone call him and talk. He is no longer here to answer me. As much as I pray and try to look for God I still feel this emptiness and loneliness. I never ever thought this would happen to me. I don’t feel sorry for myself but I feel alone.

I wish I could be of more help.

You might want to join a support group if you haven’t already. I wouldn’t want my wife to be lonely if I should die first.

May the peace of the Lord be with you,
Al

While he isn’t here physically, I’m betting he can still her you. Go ahead and talk to him!

Psalm 22, the one Jesus quoted on the cross, begins with despair but ends with an affirmation of the triumph of God.

I also find Ps. 121 comforting.

Praying for you,

Ruthie
