What should a man do?

What should a young man who is graduating college do to see if they are called to the priesthood? I have always wanted to pursue a classical piano solo career but I don’t think I can do that if I am called to be a priest. I don’t want that gift to go to waist- but then again God gave it to me, so I guess I can’t be selfish. What can I do? God Bless you!

Dear Pianoman,

Pope Benedict plays the piano quite well, I understand. But he also had other gifts which showed him that the priesthood was were his heart was. You need to learn what all your gifts are and then choose where you will be most yourself. It may take some time. Spend time reflecting on the Lord’s passion–especially before the Blessed Sacrament. For the priest both of these are not only his life, they are is work as well. You are in my prayers.
