This ‘Deacon’ sounds like an embarrassment to the Church. I sympathise, it’s people like this that drove me away. They use their position of authority to belittle others.

With respect, my ‘gone-away’ friend. . .you know this deacon’s heart and mind how? Telepathy?

If you haven’t learned yet that there are more than 2 sides to a story, and that a lot of times people jump to conclusions falsely–you will.

Monica appears to be very wise–for not only did she almost immediately recognize that much of her discomfort might have been a false perception of the ‘mind’ of the deacon, she also has the fortitude, humility, and strength of mind not to let ‘one bad experience’ ‘drive her away’ from Truth. Even if it turned out that the deacon had been as ‘bad’ as your judgment, Monica would not spurn God because one of His children acted wrongly to her. In this knowledge she shows that she is both smarter than most, and braver than most as well.

My word, that’s bitter response for a Christian.

I would NEVER let a human being drive me out of God’s Church. We all have our faults - even me , 100% of the priests and deacons I have met are wonderful spiritual people.
