What should i do ? what would you do

Hi

Every Sunday, my brother and I attend RCIA classes. My brother is the one who drives, since i don’t own a car. However, my brother lives in another house. Today, my brother can’t attend such classes because he is sick… which means i don’t have nobody to take me to those classes. I’m feeling guilty about not going… The church which offers those classes, is 5 miles away from my house… I don’t mind walking or running, as a matter of fact i like running, however, i never run in high traffic roads , and in order to get to such church, i need to pass by a high traffic road… I also own a bike, but i don’t like the idea of riding a bike in a high traffic road… i’m a very nervous person… (i can’t take a bus either)

First of all, I am glad that you and your brother are in RCIA!

Second, do you have the phone number of the RCIA teacher, or if you have a sponsor, your sponsor? Or if you can call the church office, and ask someone for a ride, do that. When you are in class, trade phone numbers with others so that if something comes up, you can get help getting to class. I would walk to church if I were you.

Make arrangements with someone in the class (or any friend) to drive you to class when your brother can’t make it.

Possible solutions:

1. If you can drive and just don’t have a car, and can get to your brother’s house, and if your brother is comfortable loaning you his car, ask to borrow it.
2. Call the Church office and ask if they can put you in touch with someone for a ride.
3. Call a cab, if available and affordable and if you are comfortable doing so.
4. Don’t go. If you can’t get there, you can’t get there, no harm done. Especially if you call the office to try to arrange a ride, they will probably understand if you can’t make it once (and may be willing to email you a list of what they talked about so you can read a bit to keep up).

I would recommend trying choice 2 though.
