What should I do? Would I be committing a sin?

I recently had confession and I do not remember what the exact words the priest told me for my penance. What should I do?
This is not my penance but here is a example: what if the priest told me to say 10 Our Father’s, but what if I’m not sure if he said to say 10 Our Father’s or say 1 Our Father and I only say 1 Our Father because it is easier. Would I be committing a sin? What should I do?

Say 9 more Our Fathers. Not that big of a deal.

If you truly forget your penance God understands. Try to do better next time.

Be at peace. it is not a sin to forget your penance.

Next time, try to simply step into the church and kneel down and say your prayers right then before you have time to forget.

Been there, done that. I did remember that it wasn’t anything hard, so I prayed a bit more than I knew I had been given.

I repeat my penance back to the priest.
Priest: for your penance say 10 Hail Marys
Me: 10 Hail Marys. Okay.

But I’m weird like that.

Typically, I will leave the confessional and go to the side altar, where there is a statue of the Virgin Mary, and say my penance. One time there were others waiting for the priest in the confessional, sitting in the pews near the side altar, and they saw me kneel there to say my penance. I heard them say, “How odd…” I was a bit embarrassed. Since I usually go to confession during Lent, I have plenty of company.

Typically, the penance is some combination of Hail Marys and Our Fathers. A couple of times I remember the priest asked me to say a rosary. Occasionally, I have also had to make some effort at restitution by apology, or to repay - in money or time.
