What Should I Wear On Easter Vigil?

This may seem like an odd question for man, but what should I wear on Easter Vigil? I am in RCIA and will be confirmed on Saturday. I tend to get nervous in front of a crowd and begin to sweat. I wanted to look nice, but would it be okay to not wear a suit? I thought that a shirt and tie would be fine. Also, is a pink shirt okay? I usually pray that I will not sweat, but I tend to get nervous. Thanks and God Bless.
 
start with the suit and if you get hot, take off your jacket.
 
I agree. Also, see if you can find some of those under arm pad things as well. I’m not sure if tney are still out there, or where to look, but I do know that they were available at one time.
 
A cotton T-undershirt is a MUST for us sweat-ers. Pink shirt and tie would be lovely.

I’d suggest you wear a sport jacket that you can take off when you get hot. Here, we will be standing outside for some time, waiting on the lighting and blessing of the fire, and it will be CHILLY.
 
The weird thing is that I am not sure why I will be nervous. I should be calm as this is one of the best days of my life. I just have some anxiety. I wish and hope that I will calm and comfortable.

I’m there with you. I swam the Tiber last year and I was very nervous. I can say that everyone involved will be very helpful and practically lead you around by the nose.

If you can imagine, I am receiving communion for the first time, I kneel in front of the priest, receive the Eucharist for the first time, have a little difficulty standing back up, and my shoe pops right off my foot. 😊 I was so embarrassed. :o But apparently the only person aware of it happening was me!:rolleyes:
 
Oh please wear a suit, or at least a jacket. This day is no less important than a wedding day, perhaps even more so!

wear ordinary business dress for your location and climate, whatever you would wear say for a job interview or important meeting, as this occasion is Very Important. I would not recommend a suit here as it will be over 90 on Saturday, and the church is never cool even with the AC blasting. dress shirt (no tee, no message), slacks or trousers, shoes and socks. if you need a jacket for the weather, wear one. Most young adult men here wear dockers and a neat polo shirt. For some of the older generation “dress clothes” in Texas means brand new jeans, white shirt, stetson (removed at the door), boots, belt buckle and bolo tie. dress clothes for Winter Texans seems to be golf attire (no spikes). at first I read “pink skirt” in OP but re-read it and conclude you are a gentleman. there is a forum-ite (and we have a parishioner) who wear kilts, authentic tartan for their clans. the good thing about wearing a suit is you always feel properly dressed, and that in itself can ease anxiety (at last it works that way for ladies).

Just think about why you are there, focus on God and forget the people…as best you can.
