What should we do when there are no kneelers in Church?

I’ve heard conflicting answers from seemingly intelligent lay people and priests on this one. If a church is not fitted with kneelers, and the vast majority of the people attending Mass are standing during the consecration of the host (at no point kneeling), and throughout communion, what is a well-meaning and obedient Catholic to do?
I believe our Bishop even says to stand (not sure though.)
My wife and I have had arguments (even at Mass) over this one.
Where can I get a definite answer?
