I have said the Rosary all of my life – but the rosary that I have now was sent to me from my granddaughter when she was spending a year in Paris – the Rosary goes everywhere with me … I carry it with me all the time – when I’m walking to Church – when I’m walking to public transportation I keep it in my hand and say a decade – I couldn’t get along without it!!! It’s definitely a part of my life.

Tommy, Where you as to find out that the Rosary is really about the Gospel?
It is a very sad thing that we are fed such lies about The Catholic Church. That is what happened to me and I began to think, what else about the Catholic Faith have I been mislead about?
Hopefully you will stand up for The Truth you have learned next time your are on an anti-Catholic website or someone in your congregations begins telling lies about The Catholic Church.

Sorry for not replying sooner. I haven’t had much of a chance to be on CAF for a few days due to work and family issues.

Just wanted you and others to know that I have never been on any other religious forums to discuss Catholicism besides CAF. I figured this was the best place to interact with Catholics and learn about Catholicism.

This is the same philosophy I employed years ago when I studied Spanish in Spain. I had the opportunity to be with an English-speaking family or live with a Spanish family. I chose to live with the Spanish family who knew no English so that I would get a more authentic experience. I had a more enriching and authentic experience by doing that than some of my fellow American students who elected to stay with families who spoke English.

I also had the honor or traveling with a few Catholic friends who were fellow students and they invited me to go to St Peter’s for Christmas Eve Mass in Rome (John Paul II). That was a long time ago, but it was an awesome experience that I still remember. Perhaps a seed was planted then that lay dormant until recent years that has begun to take root in me.

The main focus and goal of my current AOG congregation is to seek out and invite the un-churched to church so that they can hear the gospel and come to Christ in a vibrant and personal way and to “plug-in” to the life of the church. As laudable as that is, I sense there is more to the Christian faith than what I am experiencing, and I want an even more profound relationship with God.

I have heard it said on EWTN radio that some Catholics have been sacramentalized but not evangelized. My situation is the opposite. I feel like I have been evangelized but not sacramentalized, if that makes any sense. I feel I am missing out on the sacramental aspect of the Christian faith and feel a tug in the direction of Catholicism, if I can only overcome my last few obstacles.

I discovered Catholic radio about a year ago while flipping through the channels on the way home from work and have been listening ever since, especially to EWTN, and that’s how I came to know about CAF and have been on CAF since May of 2014, starting from scratch and going from there, asking questions and learning and discerning, which is still occurring.

Enough rambling. Thanks to all for replying to this thread. I promise to look up the links you provided.

Hi Tommy,

I know that you are asking about the spiritual benefits gained from praying the Rosary, but I hope that it’s not going too far off topic if I post a video on the subject of the mystery of the Incarnation, and Mary’s role in it.

It’s a video of a sermon given by Fr. Linus Clovis in London, England a few months ago, and if you view the first five minutes, you’ll get an idea about the Incarnation as being the single most important work of God. He also mentions the praying of the Rosary.

Later in the video, the role of Mary is explained as her having submitted in perfect humility to the will of God. I hope that this will provide some further info about why the Church venerates her.
