What things do people do around their communities at Christmas

Fortunately we are blessed to have amazing kids. Who have decided to try and do 12 nice things until Christmas.

Some of the ideas have been to…
Donate coloring in stuff to the childrens ward at the hospital
Take some pet food to the local SPCA
Donate food to local food bank
Leave something nice for the rubbish man
Leave something nice for the post lady
Visit the rest home
Smile at someone
Help someone
Sort out old blankets and donate them to a shelter

This afternoon mr 5 is going through his room with a goal of filling up a box of toys he no longer wants so tomorrow after school he can take the box to the local St Vincent De Paul’s

Last year for Christmas and easter mr then 10 put a table out the front of the driveway with fruit and vegetables out of my garden with a money box asking for donations ( he then spent this on Christmas presents and easter eggs for kids who were missing out)

Does anyone else’s kids do something similar?

When I was growing up, my parents would gather all the mailings they had received in the previous couple weeks, and we would sit down sometime during Advent and choose one or two charities where we wanted to “make a gift to Jesus” through a donation. We were encouraged to contribute whatever we wanted from our own money toward this gift, and my parents made a donation as well.

Sometimes our choir would go to the nursing home and sing Christmas carols.

You have some great ideas! I hope my husband and I will be able to do something similar to your ideas with our son when he is a little older (he’s just 6 months this year haha).
