Madrid, Spain, Aug 18, 2016 / 11:56 am (CNA/EWTN News).- While Reconciliation is intended to allow Christ’s victory to overcome sin in our lives, what happens when shame over one’s sins is so great that it keeps people away from the sacrament?
The famous Spanish theologian Father José Antonio Fortea discussed this phenomenon and practical solutions to it in a recent blog post.

Interesting. I never thought about written confession. Personally I don’t like writing things down, especially shameful things. I’d be terrified of someone finding it before I went to confession or possibly forgetting it somewhere. For me it was a matter of trusting that there’s nothing to be afraid of. I’m lucky that I’ve never had a negative experience in the confessional. The priest always says what I need to hear (sometimes they say nothing) and that definitely helps to get me there the next time (which is usually not a very long time :o )
