My wife is pregnant and we wanted to have a nice and quiet New Years Eve. Any suggestions or fun ideas?

Do you want to stay in or go out?

Since this will be the last NY Eve for a long time when you do not have think of getting a sitter to go out… after you attend the Vigil Mass, maybe go out for a nice dinner and then a movie or to hear some jazz or for some ballroom dancing…

If you want to stay home, pick up food on the way home from mass, put on some music and dance in the living room - followed by foot rubs, scrabble and old movies.

I’m not pregnant, but DH and I will likely go out for a nice dinner and watch the ball drop on TV. You and your wife could do the same and toast midnight with some sparkling juice.

Look at all of the notes, cards, and letters that you have written to each other over the years. If you’re not big writers, you could recall memories by looking through photo albums, newspaper clippings, etc. I recommend doing this over some of your wife’s favorite pregnancy-craving foods -haha.

Every Valentine’s Day, my fiance and I look at all of the notes we have written to each other. It’s a great way to reconnect and cherish the memories that we share. Sometimes it’s difficult to get started, but once we get going, we’re entertained for awhile…not to mention in a snuggly mood.

If you don’t go out, board games are so much fun, including chess. Some nice music to go with it.

I know you probably are focusing on just you two but my wife and I and the kids go over to a freinds house where we eat a pretty big feast. and then about 15 to 20 till midnight we Pray the rosary to bring in the new year we love it. Maybe you could incorperate that into any evening you choose to have.

I love this, what a lovely way to bring in the new year.

Our best friends are not catholic, and we always spend New Years Eve with them, so not sure if this would work.

When we get together, we talk about the past year (ups and downs) and then about our hopes for the new year. We always play board games to pass the time as well.

Your wife is so brave to stay up until midnight! When I was pregnant, 10:00 was a very late night for me.

If you were the gutsy type you could get a karoke machine and sing to her. LOL.

For old acaquaintence be forgot…

Then "Jeremiah was bullfrog, was a good friend of mine"

and then…"we’re gonna party like its 1999"

D was 10 months prego one New Years’s no room for ALL of us in the bubble bath tub, so I had to rule that out.

Serioiusly you can still go out with friends, or have some folks over for steaks. I kinda like being around my friends on New Year’s eve.

Well, I’m pregnant and unfortunately for DH have to work New Year’s Eve. 🤷

But I should be off by 4 🙂 and we’ll probably go to dinner and then cuddle up and watch old movies, eat popcorn, and snuggle.

I know for sure I’ll be too tired to go out on the town…but I should be able to handle dinner. 😛

I’ve spent every New YEars Eve the last 40 years watching bowl games on TV, pregnant or otherwise so I am the last person to ask. now it is down to cleaning, working the Christmas jigsaw puzzle, surving CAF, or doing crossword puzzles while bowl games are on.

Thanks for all the advice. We really wanted to go to Mass this evening, but we are having a blizzard. We will go tomorrow. I think that it is Chinese Food and Movies. I guess us just being together is all that really matters. Oh, if you we wondering she is about 4 months pregnant. Happy New Year to all of you. I am so glad that I found the faith, and this website. You are all so kind and have helped me on my journey. So far 4 months into RCIA and loving it.
