Ok,
I am a recent convert and I do believe in all those line items of the Creed. But, I have been having trouble with my parents. Mom and Dad were both once occasional fundamentalists and now in there later years, they are more agnostic. Part of their theology was that once saved always saved, so it doesn’t matter if they don 't believe. This is causing me much concern and though I pray for them and try to sneak in some tracts now and then, I don’t seem to be the person that can evangelize them. Does anyone have any experience, successfully evangelizing their parents.

Hi,
A wise and holy priest once told me " the price of a soul is very high ". You must offer many prayers and sacrifices for them, as well as sound doctrine. I am currently working on my father who has almost never practised his faith. But he recently agreed to read a book I gave him. You have to be in there for the long haul. Offer them a really good example too.
With God all things are possible.

Yours in Jesus, Mary & Joseph,

John

In brief, by prayer, gentle speech, and by being a good example.

Gerry 🙂

I have a similar problem with my brother–he was born Catholic, but hasn’t practiced his faith in years. I am unable to broach the topic of faith with him, so I try to live my faith the best way that I can and be a beacon of christ’s love to him. I feel like I have to gingerly dance around the topic with him. However, every once in awhile, he seems … touched by something I’ve said or done, so I’m hoping my efforts will win out in the end.

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve included his intention in a Rosary I was saying, but I feel like it’s making a difference. So, all I can say is to never stop praying for her.

Good luck and God bless! 🙂

Eric

Thanks to all of you who have been down this road and took the time to post.

Fr. Corapi had a great success in bringing his father back to the faith. He talks about him a great deal. You might want to look into a couple of his talks.
The best evangelization is to set a good example. By watching you live your faith, they will see the Truth. It may take many many years and a ton of prayers and sacrifices, but have faith! 🙂

Read Search and Rescue by Patrick Madrid, for what to do, and more important, what not to do.
