What to do when one has skipped a day during a novena?

What should one do if while saying a novena one forgets to say prayers on one of the days? Does missing a day have any effect upon the novena itself?

My suspicion is that one should just say the prayers after one remembers, that God will understand, and that prayers after all aren’t some sort of judo move or machine that gets something out of God that He doesn’t want to give, but I wanted to get your thoughts on the matter.

Hi,

Yes; you’ve got the idea. A novena is nine times of prayer. If you forget, just make up the one you forgot. There’s no magic involved. Christian prayer, if it is anything, is intensely personal.
