We’re trying to start our Christmas shopping. Just wondering if anyone has any good ideas–there’s a couple women in our family who, when they need or want something just buy it! Aside of gift certificates, what would you get someone like this on a meager $15 budget?

I’m trying to get away from getting things for people just because I need to get them things. A gift of a home baked goodie or a picture of my son is more of a gift from the heart.

For people that have everything I have given consumables, like specialty tray of nuts, designer coffee or teas, hand made soap from a specialty market. This way it is special, but doesn’t break the bank. Some people would appreciate a home baked item. I make carmel corn for some of my older aunts and uncles. I make several extra bags in case someone stops by that I didn’t expect. Homemade fudge is super too, or homemade chocolate sauce for ice cream is yummy.

I do the same thing, and some of those dollar stores have really pretty plates and baskets & such. Also, if you live near a Cost Plus World Market, you can get really neat things for a song.

This year, I am adding a new number to my repetoire. I will be "canning " cakes. Baking cakes in glass canning jars, that will seal and stay fresh for months!
