How did I know it or how did I choose it? I chose St James the Greater by exhaustive research. Not really. I was given a book of saints, flipped to an index sorted by feast day and found my birthday. I liked what I saw and went with it. Piece of cake.

I liked the name Bernadette. Also, I remembered that she had to go through alot: being misunderstood mostly (check), being sick alot (check), being made fun of (check), being the lone seer at Lourdes (nobody to commiserate with - check). Now that I think, I didn’t know all that at age 12. Predestined? Hmm…

We all came out looking just like one another, talking and thinking identically.

Oh, wait, that was conformation . . .

🤣

I definitely was not going to dedicate my life to serving the Church, and I felt guilty about my affirmation of that vow to do so.
I suggest you talk to a priest about this one. A vow not made with complete consent in not a valid vow. Please talk a priest.

I don’t remember much about it, and honestly wish I could do it over again. I was too young to fully appreciate the sacrament.

What vow is made in the sacrament of Confirmation?
