The priest surrounded his sermon around the words and meditation “The word was made flesh and dwelt among us”

on the premise because of christ’s birth we can have hope for the future.

Joy, & the beautiful juxtaposition of humanity & divinity.

Gotta love our new assistant priest! 👍

“Happy birthday to our older brother Jesus.” Direct quote and a good title.

It was presented in the fashion a person would to young children, who knew nothing of young children. 😦

Everyday should be like a Christmas. We should be loving, giving, forgiving, helping etc not just on Christmas but every day of the year.:o

Our pastor spoke of the true miracle of Christ’s being made flesh, and drew a parallel to the true miracle of the Eucharist.

He also made a remarkably gentle point of chastising the Christmas-and-Easter Catholics: “It’s so nice to see so many people show up for Christmas Mass. It would also be nice to see you here every Sunday…”

My priest said that Christmas is all about peace on earth, and then he went on a more or less political rant about the war in the Middle East and how the US is being irresponsible with human and material resources. Not very inspiring :(.

Christmas. 😉 😃 👍

[Sorry, just being a wiseacre. I used to teach junior high school. Haha. Funniest experience of my life. Tell them to read a book, and then ask them about it and they say, “nice book.” Nothing else, just “nice book.” That’s all they got out of it. Honest. ROFLOL]

same as every year, the bishop’'s Christmas message was read.

I couldn’t hear it due to children bringing and playing with their Christmas presents.

Imagine how loud they were, the priest talks through a microphone (loop) and lots of speakers.

Luckily it quietened down during Consecration.

well, we attended Midnight Mass (actually at 10 PM, as usual) last night, but Father related the change and light brought out by the birth of Jesus to the changes that have been taking place around the globe politically, usually via the different protests - he even brought up Time Magazine naming “the protester” as the person of the year. Not a political sermon, but he likes to tie his homilies into current events.

The sermon at my parish was about the doctrine of the incarnation, and how the Nativity is the completion of the incarnation. It was the Mass during the day, so the Gospel reading was St. John 1:1-14

I got a lot out of it, but I felt like the people who only go to Mass on Christmas and Easter were bored. I overheard a woman say “This is too long.”

Whatever, I got a lot out of it nonetheless.

Our priest talked in almost poetic words about the birth of Christ and the hope and spark of light that was buried in each of us, that we should be helping to ‘birth’ Christ every day. It was very moving!

Our priest gave an excellent homily. He talked about how it is Jesus birthday and we should give Him a birthday gift that He wants, which is the gift of ourselves.

Midnight mass was amazing. The Priest spoke of Joy and Love and that we should all strive to be joyful and happy and he broke out in song singing Silent Night and then the whole Church started singing and the piano started towards the end, it was amazing and very emotional.

Christmas Day mass was also amazing. The other priest at our church spoke of the Father Love that God shared with his Children on earth in the form of his Son Jesus. It was a theme of the Love of a parent. He also mentioned how Jesus in his life was always on the move, preaching from place to place except in 2 times when he looked on as and was still, first in the Manger and then on the Cross…This was so amazing when you really thing about it.😃

We have two priests which serve 5 parishes. We are so blessed to have these two.
Fr Christian is from Columbia with a slightly heavy accent. Every Mass is a teaching and although his masses are long, people are flocking in to learn. I am a true believer that he was put in our midst to bring people back.
Fr. Bill is from our area, and he too is a blessing for us. Thank you dear God, for giving us these two great men after many years of having a retired priest just there to say Mass.👍

Our pastor told a story about a German soldier on the war front who was injured, and an American soldier ran across the battlefield to rescue and aid him. He said, “Christ wants us to have peace in the world, and for one moment, there was.” It was very sad, an it made you think.
