What was your favorite song sung at Your wedding?

Ok, this is in relation to the other wedding song thread,
what was the favorite song or songs you had at your own wedding or even the wedding of a friend or family member that really touched your heart?

I’ll start…
My wedding my aunt sang “this is the day” by Scott Wesley Brown, I loved it and bawled like a baby.

At my sisters wedding her friend sang “I will be here” by Steven Curtis Chapman, absolutely awesome and again, I stood up by my sis bawling 😃

At my brothers wedding my cousin sang “the other side of me” by “Michael W. Smith” Again, I was just losing it, so beautifully done.

Oh, I love that, my sister walked into Jesus, Joy of Man’s desire, I cried for that too 😃

My sister in law walked into Canon in D, I love that too, so beautiful.

We walked out to this beautiful piece written just for our wedding by a little-known composer who was getting married that day. The piece was called “Victory of Heaven’s Kingdom” and the composer was my husband 🙂

I also loved the way our dear priest sang the Final Doxology in Latin. It was a very intense spiritual experience! And of course, Ave Maria was another beautiful musical highlight.

Your husband composes music?? That is sooooo cool, what a treasure that he did that for your special day, how romantic. 😃
 
My DH’s uncle sang at our wedding – the ave maria was wonderful, but there’s just something about the Our Father…and the final part…(you know how dramatic vocalists can be…lol!) and in the middle of the silence between the “for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the gloooooooory” (big crescendo there, followed by stone silence before the final “forever, amen” part…) my little cousin yells from the back “What’s he SCREAMIN about!!!”

Yes, my aunt sang the Our father at the meal at my sisters wedding, again, I’m a wedding cryer and boy, was I crying, I know what your talking about at the end, it is Awesome and when someone really knows how to sing it (not me at all :eek: ) it sounds so amazing, it gives ya goosebumps!!
 
The vocalist we had hired for the wedding had a nasty throat problem. She was coming, but would be unable to sing. She had another vocalist fill in for her. He was very good. She warned me ahead of time that he couldn’t sing “Ave Maria”, so we would just have the music. That was ok- in fact, I was relieved. If her throat was the only thing that went wrong on the “big day”, I was happy.

Anyway, the music began for “Ave Maria”. We moved to go to the statue of Mary with our flowers, when suddenly she started singing. She knew it meant a lot to me (one of my deceased grandmas fav. church songs-played at her funeral) and was able to sing it. It was beautiful- and even more so since it was unexpected. I had a hard time trying to keep the tears from ruining my makeup- lol!

oh, that is awesome, I’m crying just reading this, I love weddings 🙂
 
I don’t remember anything about my wedding except my sister (maid of honor) fainting and driving the altar boy into hysterics.
 
A good friend of mine (who is now a Carmelite novice) sang the Ave Maria for me. It was so beautiful… must be what the angels sound like.
 
Our wedding was right after Christmas, and we all sang “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”, but I think my favorite song of all was “How Great Thou Art”. The organist thought it was a strange choice, but it did and still speaks to me of the true nature of the divine!

We came out at the reception to “Like A Rolling Stone”, it was perfect!!
 
We recessed to one of my favorite pieces of music ever written: The Choral movement of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony (AKA “Ode to Joy”).
 
The only piece we had sung at our wedding was Schubert’s *Ave Maria * while I took flowers to the statue of the BVM, sung by a close friend (who was in contention for Robert Goulet’s role in the original Broadway production of Camelot, so that tells you how great his voice is!). It was by far my favorite piece of music at our wedding.

Before the Mass my brother-in-law played *Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring * on flute. Our processional was the *Hornpipe * from Handel’s *Water Music * and the recessional was Ode to Joy. I can’t remember our Offertory or Communion songs, but they were organ instrumentals.

the part i remember fondly is when it was over, the lights were back on at the reception, everyone was hugging and saying farewell, and the DJ played the last song of the night at our request… John Lennon’s “Grow old along with me”

it still chokes me up thinking about what an amazing day our wedding was.
