What will be the nature of our resurrected body?

It is a profession of our faith when we affirm our belief in the resurrection of the body. One day recently, I tried to picture what that might mean for us and my poor finite mind exploded with thoughts that were a bit much for me. This is just a reflection meant to help us all consider this article of faith a bit deeper. If anyone has ideas to share, please feel welcome.

We know that in Jesus’s glorified body, he bore the wounds of his passion. Will our bodies carry the wounds we received during our life on earth? If we have both a glorified body and spirit, how will we relate to God who is pure Spirit?

Will we . . .
  • live on earth in greater perfection, free from pain? or in a new heaven somewhere?
  • enjoy a change in the four seasons? to ski or swim?
  • partake of food and drink? Must it be prepared by us or by restauranteers who will need to serve us? If so, will that require cleansing the teeth and dental care?
  • drive a vehicle, fly a plane, go boating or bicycling? enjoy sports?
  • need a haircut or trim fingernails?
  • wear clothing … which necessitates manufacturing and tailorers?
  • communicate by mental telepathy or electronic communication?
  • have celebrations with family, friends, neighbors?
  • go through doors as Christ did?
  • know other people’s thoughts?
  • cry? laugh? feel love?
  • stay the same age? and what might that be?
  • or just bask in the beatific vision forever?
Hmm. I guess I opened Pandora’s box when I considered what this might mean for us some day.
