What would Christ Say about Drug Prevention!?

Our number one killer drug is alcohol. It’s our number one socially acceptable drug to abuse. Nobody needs beer, wine or spirits but we ‘bless it’ by allowing it to be consumed and sold even in grocery stores and pharmacies. At CVS the beer is in the same cooler as the milk!
You forgot to mention Catholic church carnivals.

The first thing any addict does is to defend, minimize and trivialize his drug of choice.

The lungs were not made to inhale smoke. The liver was not made to break down alcohol as it taxes the liver so much that being drunk is a side effect of the liver overload and damage.

Caffeine is not any better as the dose must be raised to achieve the same desired efffect and people are slaves to their caffeine.

An addict always defends their drug of choice and rationalizes it often in militant fashion.

Other than prescribed drugs under the supervision of a qualified physician nicotine, caffeine and alcohol are drugs of abuse. It’s just that with so many abusing these drugs it has become socially and culturally acceptable. But the lungs, liver and brain don’t know this!

But we are all sinners and sin is sin and I’m not any better than anyone who smokes, drinks or consumes caffeine. I pray for those held in bondage to these ‘innocent’ addictions; trips at 3 AM to the gas station for smokes, the coughing, the MONEY and those who drink because they have to or just because it makes them feel good and those unable to start the day without their coffee.

But to call any of these three innocuous is incorrect.
Oh, for Pete’s sake. Caffeine has many proven health benefits, as does moderate consumption of certain alcoholic drinks. Jesus himself turned water into wine. Most people who use these things aren’t addicts, but informed consumers.

after reading this heavy handed morality in this thread, I’m thankful that its five o’clock somewhere.

So I guess Jesus turned water into… orange juice?

As JackieMom pointed out, Jesus himself turned water into wine.
John 2:5-8:
His mother said to the servers, “Do whatever he tells you.” Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washings, each holding twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus told them, “Fill the jars with water.” So they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter.” So they took it.
Six jars, twenty to thirty gallons each. Good party!

Tobacco is almost obsolete among young kids.

Most are also not smoking weed in an unhealthy way. They use vaporizers which don’t give you lung cancer.

What people need to watch out for are PRESCRIPTION drugs. One in every four American women is addicted. They are legal.
I assume you mean pot refering to the word “weed”? Pot, or marijuana, or grass, are a illegal substance in most of the countrys on this globe we call earth. There are no safe way, or excuse, to use that.
I do know that it is a very usefull thing used as pain relief, and has, no doubt, it’s place in medicin, but I would think long and hard before prescribe it. If you say that it is OK to use it, you approve a drug your self. Being conserned about just about all we can smoke or eat, but not about smoking hemp, leaves me a bit confused. At this point I hope I did misunderstand your point.

Brian,

This last clause had be laughing.

Are you really comparing a “have to have” alcoholic drink to a morning cup of joe?

This can’t be real.

Well, I need my cup of coffee before I go out with my dog, that cup start my first brain cell, and after the walk I need a second cup to activate the second brain cell, and during the day I need lot of coffee…but there ain’t coffee enough in this world to help me understand this thread. It did begin with drug’s, and now we (once again) are talking about coffee and for some reason what so ever I still don’t know if this question really have a true meaning, and, are you still saying it is OK to smoke pot as long as you don’t inhale it, and now I need more coffee…
