What would happen if someone died while in the process of becoming Catholic?

What would happen if someone died while going through the process of becoming Catholic? (Baptism, holy communion etc.) would God have mercy on them and they would go to Heaven? Or since They died before receiving Baptism and reconciliation they would still go to hell?
