Your Task:

Observe the design of our Giraffe, imagine & then describe its natural predator, a real or imagined predator - extant or extinct.

Thanks people!

HA HA HA! I love these posts that start at 4 am! 😃

I think they are a big clumsy horse-ish (they are a different genus, I believe, I think they are more closely related to a camel…) critter that is certainly NOT built to carry a rider. they are so tall and top heavy with those long legs that I would imagine their biggest predator would go for the ankles. heck, they probably get into a BIG wreck when they trip over a log! lol, They have never struck me as a very graceful animal! 🤷

Their “purpose” is to trim the trees. Man hadn’t invented the aluminum fold-up ladder yet.

Its predator, among others, is Man. Its defense was to be as seemingly useless and defenseless to Man as possible while still managing to live on.

But since the advent of the ladder, it has had a serious challenge. Like many useless and defenseless humans it is still depending on the sympathy factor.

Nothing can die until fails to try. 😃

It is reassuringly easy to baffle the philosophers.

The Giraffes predators, like man, are all very small and close to the ground. For them, looking up at our Giraffe, they will see a tall yellow and brown striking pattern against a usually Cerulean blue or Flake white sky. If the Giraffes pattern does not make it stick out a mile for a low to the ground predator, then I don’t know what does.
But our Giraffes pattern is camouflage, it seems safe to say, but camouflage against what?

Yes, exactly. Their biggest predator would probably go for their ankles. But Monsieur Giraffe chose a wildly French style of Camouflage. Should’nt the Giraffe be sky blue with with cloud patches.

Yeah, because normally predators spot there pray from 1 meter away and underneath the animal :p, and normally pray animals that have camouflage can escape the predator from a body length away if they blend in. 😃

Another unbeliever… A Giraffe sticks out, literally, from any distance. Would’nt the best camouflage be to bend light around its tall neck, or create photophores.
