whats a personal patron saint cause I’ve heard something about this and also how does someone get one
 
A patron saint is a saint who has virtues and quaities that you admire and wish to develop in your own life. You first need to read about the saints and then just choose one that appeals to you.
 
Correct. However sometimes God chooses one for you, especially if you are in a situation where a particular saint’s intercession is called for. This occurs in much the same way as when any other helper might suddenly come into your life in a time of need. You will know if it is happening to you.
 
Sometimes God has other saints lead them to you – it’s beautiful.

Patron saints can become close family and dear friends; sometimes it astounds me that these so-very-wonderful people, who lived centuries ago, are aware of tiny little me here and now!

I consider St Therese of Lisieux my patron saint as I do love her “Little Way” and her book “The Story of a Soul”.

In a way, she is in my circle of family and friends.
