What's in a name: Columbine

A deranged young woman traveled from Florida to Colorado, bought a shot gun, and seemed intent on causing some injury near the Columbine Schools, where a tragedy occurred 20 years ago.

I don’t know why that name Columbine is so important. I think the name of the school should have been changed long ago to erase its name from the history books.

Do you really think changing the name will erase history?

And we should never erase history anyway. What happened was a horrific tragedy and should be remembered as such, not erased from history or never spoken of again.

you’re right, it doesn’t change history but the memory should be relegated to the history books. I think John Wayne Gacy’s house was torn down in Des Plaines IL to get rid of the reminder of what happened there. If the school’s name was quietly changed this deranged woman who went to Colorado might have had a more difficult time finding the building. It’s not a shrine.
