for the navarre bible do you recommend getting the individual books by themself or the compact NT edition… the compact one it says is 1/3 the size. They then sell th eindividual books by themself or you can buy the gospels together, etc.
I doubt the one-volume compact Navarre has all the great commentary which the individual books have and it’s hard to imagine a bible commentary being better than the Navarre series. It has english (rsv) and latin (nv), tons of notes and commentary, both for apologetics and for personal living out your faith. They use a variety of voices for their commentary, the faculty of NU, the EC Fathers, catechism, church documents, church councils, theologians, Escriva, Augustine, Theresa of Avila, DeSales, Jerome, Gregory the Great, on and on.

A great thing is the individual bonus essay sections given with each book: In various books you get essays on: a general introduction to the NT, an introduction to the gospels, history of the NT, the canon, the truth of sacred scipture, Rules for biblical interpretation etc etc.

You can buy them individually or as mini-sets or all at once. I’m sure Amazon has a “look inside” feature on one or several of 'em.
I’m buying one volume at a time every once in a while.
Fantastic resource.
