What's the correct language for the communion rite?

I have recently moved and have joined a new church. After the congregation stated “Lord I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word and I shall be healed,” my former parish priest would sometimes say “May the body and blood of Christ bring us to eternal life,” after which he would proceed with communion. At my new parish, the priest doesn’t say anything after “…shall be healed” and goes directly to communion. Is there any significance between the two?

Dear D,

You former parish priest was saying out loud a prayer which the General Instruction of the Roman Missal directs him to say inaudibly.
