I could list the doctrines I disagree with, however most of them have already been addressed. What irks me is the high percentage of approved annulments. Seriously? you can’t tell me that there is something wrong with the validity of almost every marriage.
Well, as far as I know it could be the case that there is something wrong with the validity of almost every marriage, but I’ll grant you at least that Catholics should probably be more shocked by that possibility than we typically are.

Just imagine a priest getting up before a group of married Catholics and saying “The majority of you are not validly married, I just don’t know which ones.”

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE:o

I have read in the past that over “25%” of the WORLDS annulments are from the USA

Could not agree more. But before someone posts the conditions of infallibility again, I think from my side it doesn’t always just include the Pope, but the whole church. Be that through one person (the Pope) or the whole Church or the Magisterium. Through history many things just do not add up. EVERYTHING simply cannot be reconciled in order to maintain the infallibility doctrine. Furthermore, even ONE issue puts the entire structure into question purely because of this belief.

Personally I belief the idea of “any infallibility” gave Catholicism many more headaches then they wished for. Just like the 1870 Papal infallibility (Still strange if one examines the exact political circumstances under which this happened at the time) finally killed any EAST/WEST unification. Rome can’t retract it (Else they admit they were wrong) and the East will never except it.

This view is common among Protestants for a variety of reasons including

NOT rightly understanding the bible; notably as examples

Mt 10:1-8
Mt 16:15-19
John 17:17-20
Mt 28:18-20
Eph 4: 1-7
Eph. 2: 19-22

John 17: 17-20 is the biblical foundation for the Dogma of Infallibility

[Jesus /GOD, who cannot deny himself]
[17] Sanctify them in truth. Thy word is truth. [18]** As thou hast sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. [19] And for them do I sanctify myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.** [20] And not for them only do I pray, but for them also who through their word shall believe in me

NO other church or faith can to HAVE Jesus Himself as the Personal warranty of their teaching His {Christ] truths

Mt. 28:19-20
[19] Going therefore, teach** YOU** all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I[GOD] have commanded YOU and behold** I am with YOU all days,** even to the consummation of the world.

John 16:13
But when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will teach you all truth. For he shall not speak of himself; but what things soever he shall hear, he shall speak; and the things that are to come, he shall shew YOU.

John 14:26
But the Paraclete, the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring all things to your mind, whatsoever I shall have said to YOU

Ephesians 1:13
In whom you also, after YOU had heard the word of truth, (the gospel of your salvation;) in whom also believing, YOU**** were signed with the holy Spirit of promise

Rom. 9:15 “For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”

Secondly: Jesus himself is the author of Papal Succession. READ & compare Mt 10:5-8 to Mt 28:19-20. And this is in an absolute sense essential as the NEW Command was for the RCC to Teach the ENTIRE WORLD which requires succession

Third is the wide spread denial that the bible teaches ONLY

One True God

One True set of faith beliefs [even GOD cannot hold more] and there are thousands of differing Protestant church’s; EACH identified as is the RCC by its OWN set of faith beliefs; as is Catholicism with its ONE set of beliefs, n ow 2,000 years young.

& just One True Church [today’s RCC, also 2,000 years young]

and nowhere in the bible can this be disproven:shrug:

It would seem logical for others to have to deny these clearly taught evidences; but doing so as to protect what they choose to believe & practice.

PRAY about it friends

As stated above, I don’t accept papal infallibility. But I do think it has created stability, united belief in doctrine, cohesion, for many centuries. (I think it is a medieval construct that grew out of the theology, events and direction of the Roman Catholic Church at that time - be it’s God work or man’s) To dismiss it now (besides I feel like it is dissolving of its own accord at this point in time with AL) would really stir the pot. Everything is up for grabs. Just like the Protestants or Orthodox Churches. I am afraid hell will break loose with or without it. :o It’s toast either way.

1st** lets define the term to make sure we have a common understanding of it**

“INFALLIBILITY. Freedom from error in teaching the universal Church in matters of faith or morals. As defined by the First Vatican Council, “The Roman Pontiff, when he speaks ex cathedra – that is, when in discharge of the office of pastor and teacher of all Christians, by virtue of his supreme apostolic authority, he defines a doctrine regarding faith or morals to be held by the universal Church, by the divine assistance promised to him in Blessed Peter, is possessed of that infallibility with which the divine Redeemer willed that his Church should be endowed in defining doctrine regarding faith or morals; and therefore such definitions are irreformable of themselves, and not in virtue of consent of the Church” (Denzinger 3074).

The bearer of the infallibility is every lawful Pope as successor of Peter, the Prince of the
Apostles. But the Pope alone is infallible, not others to whom he delegates a part of his teaching authority, for example, the Roman congregations.

The object of his infallibility is his teaching of faith and morals. This means especially revealed doctrine like the Incarnation. But it also includes any nonrevealed teaching that is in any way connected with revelation.

The condition of the infallibility is that the Pope speaks ex cathedra. For this is required that: 1. he have the intention of declaring something unchangeably true; and 2. he speak as shepherd and teacher of all the faithful with the full weight of his apostolic authority, and not merely as a private theologian or even merely for the people of Rome or some particular segment of the Church of God.

The source of the infallibility is the supernatural assistance of the Holy Spirit, who protects the supreme teacher of the Church from error and therefore from misleading the people of God.

As a result, the ex cathedra pronouncements of the Pope are unchangeable “of themselves,” that is, not because others in the Church either first instructed the Pope or agree to what he says. (Etym. Latin in-, not + fallibilis; from fallere, to deceive: infallibilis, not able to deceive, or err.)”

FROM FR. HARDON’S CATHOLIC DICTIONARY

If, my friend your understanding of Papal Infallibility was different than this, you need to reread carefully ALL the conditions Infallibility requires.

2nd It is of critical importance to know that Church authority to “Bind and to Loose” in Mt 16:19 refers to the Authority to Teach and Mandate acceptance of those teachings on FAITH & Morals that Do bind all. UT only on Faith & Morals!

The foundations for this Dogma is biblical: **use this site to look these up **

** www. drbo.org/**

Mt 10: 1-5
Mt 16:15-19
JOHN 17:17-20
Mt 28:18-20
Eph 2: 19-22
Eph 4: 1-7

In its clearest expression it is John 17:17-20 that lays the foundation for this Dogma

17 Sanctify them in the truth; **thy word is truth. **

18** As thou didst send me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.**

19 And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be consecrated in truth.

20 "I do not pray for these only, but also for those who believe in me through their word”
Verse 18 & 19 is teaching

That GOD has chosen to empower his Church [compare Mt 10:1-8 to Mt 28:19-20] with HIS Power [Mt 10: 1-5 & Jn 17: 18] and His Authority.
Further Jesus / GOD gives HIMSELF as the Personal warranty of His Church teaching ONLY HIS Truth on all matters of faith and morals. NO OTHER CHURCH, NO OTHER FAITH CAN MAKE & SUPPORT THOS CLAIM! Verse 19.

Now combine this with the above passages, and you have a SOLID Foundation for this Dogma.

**3td. **Is the critical question: WHO IS IN CHARGE? US OR OUR GOD? And the responsibility is not shareable.
