I just read Michelle Arnold’s answer to the question about the Catholic Church being too business oriented. In it she mentions Protestant “fads” such as the books The Purpose-Driven Life and The Prayer of Jabez. Having read both these books, I found inspiration in both. Now I wonder if there is a particular reason why they seem to be frowned on, or have I read too much into it? I am a Catholic with, I think, enough discernment to be able to weed out the un-Catholic viewpoints and teachings. Is there anything harmful in these books per se?
