Whats wrong with this picture: www-acc.scu.edu/clubs/GALA/PHOTOS/DRAG2001.htm ?

It appears to me that these Jesuits at Santa Clara University have gone completely wacked out, in terms of the Catholic morals they are supposed to instill in the pupils entrusted to them. I didn’t dare post the pictures in this thread, as I don’t believe they are fit for a Catholic forum, but view them as you wish.

I just hope the upcoming apostolic visitation snuffs out events such as these, though while I’m not holding my breath I am praying.:gopray2:

Quite a showing for a University that purports to be Catholic if you ask me, anyone care to agree or disagree?

Is it just me? I clicked on your link and kept getting repeated requests to show some movie… I declined due to security risk so don’t know what it’s about.

I agree that this is strongly unbecoming of a Catholic University.

However, I do not believe the audit of our Seminaries will even touch Catholic colleges that are not seminaries.

As a University of Portland alumn, I can tell you that Santa Clara is the worst school in the world and no one should ever go there no matter what anyway. And their soccer team is gong down.

No doubt these photos are disturbing–but do we have any context for them? Is this part of a SCU sanctioned event? Did SCU post them on the website or is this some group within the university working hard to cause some controversy, gain attention, generate negative publicity?

this is also a quote from the SC site:

Primarily, the Drag Show/Lip Sync is an event that serves to advertise events of Queer Awareness Week on the Santa Clara campus, which include a panel discussion, an ally workshop, and a day of silence.

sad.

I saw photos like this from another Jesuit college, which was having a similar show and event.

Here’s a link to this year’s “Out There Conference” program, scheduled for the end of October. Check out the titles of some of the talks – and some of the speakers are priests. It’s disheartening, that’s for sure.

I believe that only the 220 US seminaries are being inspected, and not the universities themselves. I know my seminary is due to be inspected and all of the seminarians are going to be interviewed this October, and I believe that it will be at the end of that month. This I am sure will be an unforgetable experience.

If I remember correctly, It will be a team of 2 bishops, 2 preists, and one psychologist.

article in Catholic Week says…

“The Vatican congregation for Catholic Education, which oversees seminary formation around the world, has appointed 117 bishops and Seminary personnel as visitors. They are to visit each college-or theology-level instituiton, working in teams of three for smaller programs or four for the larger ones.”

🙂
