What's your Church's teaching on Matthew 16:18 and why?

For clarification: Catholics still hold to Pauls teaching that we all follow Christ. Paul never says to reject Peter or to reject Paul as apostles of Jesus Christ. Paul rejects the idea that the gospel he and Peter brings to them comes divided among men. Peter and Paul’s gospel is not of human origin, but founded by Jesus Christ. It is not a gospel of men so as to follow Peter or Paul who are mere mortal men. I think your reading a 20th century interpretation of the text instead of a first century interpretation of Pauls Epistle to the Corinthians? Paul learns first hand from Jesus that the Church is Jesus body and that the Church is not a democracy to follow mere men. Christ is our head of the body the Church. Some one has dupped you, if you think? Catholics follow Peter and His successors in the Popes because it is the Popes or Peter’s church? Your false view of the Catholic church is never a Catholic belief from the get. The first Christians followed all the apostles and the apostles lead in communion with Peter whom Jesus commissioned to confirm his brethren, that is Jesus gospel not Peter’s.
However, my Church isn’t “as authentic” because it’s not built on Peter. We both accept that our Church is built on Christ, but mine is apparently lacking fullness because I don’t “follow Peter.”

I never said my Church is built on Rock= Peter, Jesus Christ made it known, Peter say’s to Jesus singular "THOU ART THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD,… Jesus responds singular back to Simon BarJona, THOU ART PETER =ROCK, AND UPON THIS ROCK I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH, and I will give YOU PETER = Rock the keys to the kingdom of heaven, what ever YOU (Peter singular) bind on earth I WILL BIND IN HEAVEN, and what ever you loose on earth I WILL LOOSE IN HEAVEN. I don’t take liberty to debate Jesus Words as Luther and the reformers have done. Jesus teachings are unchanged in the Catholic Church. Jesus is building His Church upon Peter. Simon died but Peter still lives, and the tomb of Jesus is still empty amen, Jesus has never left Peter and His (Jesus) Catholic Church. Please provide biblical proof that can quote Jesus building His Church upon your church founders Luther or the protestant reformers? In short all the Popes since Peter follow Jesus never themselves.

Do you believe that the rock that Christ built His Church on was Peter’s statement, Peter himself, or both?

Every practicing Catholic agrees with James the Just, the Church proclaims Jesus builds His Church first from Simon bar Jona’s profession of faith. Note Peter has not made the profession of faith. Flesh and blood did not reveal this to Simon, as did the other professions of faith in the scripture proclaim Jesus to be the Son of God. Jesus reveals His Father in Heaven revealed this to Simon. This heavenly sign from Heaven not flesh and blood. Is confirmed by Jesus to begin building His Church. Thus from Simon’s profession of faith, Jesus isolates Simon from all the silent apostles who were not given the revelation from the Father in Heaven. Jesus Changes Simon’s name and his Character, by "THOU ART PETER = Rock. Thus from the profession of Simon’s faith that the Father gives, Jesus changes not only Simon’s name to Rock but a Rock that does not change who will remain as His Vicar on earth to tend his sheep and feed His flock until until He returns. Jesus before He ascends into Heaven tells Peter not to concern himself with John the Church following Peter and Jesus, but reminds Peter and commands Peter “YOU FOLLOW ME”. We the Catholic Church like St. John the beloved apostle of Jesus, if it is the will of Jesus that we remain until Jesus returns? ( John 21;21-23 ) Follow our Shepherd in heaven and His vicar Jesus made Rock = Peter who possess the heavenly keys on earth to bind or lose all those powers and principalities that come against Jesus body the Church and His divine revelations and teachings in the Person of Rock = Peter. It goes without saying that it was Peter’ FAITH ALONE who denied Jesus Three Times, and who refused Jesus to suffer His passion for us, that Jesus rebuked Peter’s faith. Yet it is the office of Peter that remains rock with Jesus on earth until Jesus comes again. We don’t follow the Pope the man, we follow Jesus in His established Kingdom built upon His Rock = Peter who follows Him.

One point I want to revist as I have been thinking about the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

catholicexchange.com/pentecost-filled-with-the-holy-spirit

What does the indwelling of the Spirit mean?

“In the process of redemption, after the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, He draws the soul to Christ and salvation, imparting faith as a gift of the Spirit. The faith allows the soul to see their guilt of sin and turn from sin (repentance), asking God to forgive their sins, through the blood of Christ. Through the death of Christ, the sins of the repentant sinner are paid for on the cross, they are declared justified before God, on account of Christ. The Holy Spirit then enters the new believer and is deposited as a guarantee. The soul is a new creation before God, Born Again, justified in Christ.”

Just for example above, so we then are seeing the indwelling of the Holy Spirit differently than for example the above link. Basically the intimate connection to the communion of the Apostolic Church.
