So it’s about noon on Good Friday, and I’m hungry and already thinking about Sunday’s big feast.
My in-laws are Italian and Bulgarian and we have a cool mix of traditional foods that we prepare for our big Easter Feast after mass, that lasts from lunch until late at night.
Lunchtime snacks:
Appetizers that include cold cut meats and cheeses, veggies, dips, tortilla chips and salsa (to appease me, the Texan), olives.
Dinner:
Roasted lamb with gravy, rice with golden raisins and mint, potatoes, some green veggie. Colored Easter eggs. And Kozunak - Bulgarian Easter bread
Dessert:
Cake and flan (Cuban uncle’s recipe). Lots of red wine and coffee throughout.
Needless to say, typing this on a fast day is making my stomach growl. What’s on your menu for Sunday?
