This is sort of a spin off to my previous thread…

When you see a friend or family member slowly being *seduced *by another faith…a faith that does not support that Christ is Divine…or that Christ died for our sins…what do you do?😦

I try to gently persuade. However, by the time I hear about it, they usually have made up their mind, and there is nothing I can do about it, other than pray.

I have a family member who joined an Evangelical denomination a few years ago. Now his favorite topic of conversation is Catholic bashing, and he’s trying to convert all of us to his church. It hasn’t worked on any of us, and if anything, it’s made us all better Catholics. We are learning to defend our faith, and to counter argue with him. I don’t know if it’s working, though.😦

That is interesting…thank u for sharing. Why did he leave? I agree…sometimes, I don’t even know until it is too late…(but nothing is too late with God, right?)🙂

That being said…at least he is practicing a faith that doesn’t discount Christ…😦

And when he ‘bashes’ Catholics…what is he saying is the problem(s)? If you don’t mind sharing…thank you.

His main complaint is that the Catholic Church is so unbiblical. I’m not exactly sure exactly how we are unbiblical, though. He also states that Catholics do not know or understand the bible. Also claims that one has to accept Christ as you personal saviour to be saved (OSAS, too). He claims that all people who are not Christians (Buddahists, Moslems, etc) are condemed to hell because they do not claim Jesus as their Lord. Also, he has totally bought into the “name it, claim it” theology. And, he reasons, since his self-owned business it doing so well, and they make so much money, it must be because Jesus is on their side!

His brother has gone to a Jesuit priest at a local University, and has gotten a lot of information from this priest. He has given him a lot of information to help him argue against my cousin’s (his brothers) beliefs.

This has been going on for 4 or 5 years now, and I don’t see an end to it. I really wouldn’t mind him moving to an Evangelical Church so much if he just left the rest of us alone, but he’s got to harp on the Catholic Church all of the time, and it really gets tiring. I really don’t argue with him anymore - I just pray a lot.
