When are we supposed to evangelize?

I read with interest the recent thread about being forced to present gay pride materials. Almost every poster said “work is work” - no politics, no religion. This is a given and most that stay employed know this…so, when, where and who do we evangelize? And I have to ask, isn’t the work off-limits rule, like creating a safe base for Satan?

evangelize by example -

being a good christian and doing charitable deeds,

going to church and follow the teachings, and sometimes Catholics wear or have some type of reminder like a cross necklace or a scapular or have a rosary - and people know , so when you do something good they might say wow - i wanna check out what that’s about

also - I have a bumper sticker on my car for Immaculate heart radio - which is the Catholic am talk station - and hopefully someone or many will turn to that station to hear the good news,

Work being a safe place for Satan is a concern… However there is prudence and I think it is a VERY delicate balance. Consequently God will understand if we sometimes bite our tongue.

However, if someone starts talking about doing something sinful, not joining the conversation can sometimes be just as powerful as not speaking up against it. Or maybe just saying ‘I am not comfortable discussing this’ in a polite tone is good enough. It is respecting their free will yet stating your opinion.

In my opinion, once the people you are around are aware that you are a christian, then you have essentially become a “representative” for Christ and every one of your daily actions can become an opportunity for evangelization.

For example, you could simply keep a rosary or a holy card on your desk and people will notice this when they come to visit. Then, the next time you decide to help a charity at work or stick up for an office employee who is being bullied, your actions will immediately be associated with Christ and the glory associated with your action will go directly to our Lord!

Very beautifully well written! May God continue to bless you and all of your loved ones!

To play the Devil’s advocate- isn’t being a "silent example"often just a euphemism for doing nothing. For example, I can understand why Catholic Relief Services does not
evangelize, they will be slaughtered in some countries and thereby unable to provide services. But in their bravery/service their actions speak louder than words.

But how does an office worker for example speak “louder than words?” When in reality they are often discouraged or outright banned from any religious expression on themselves (cross) or work space and left only with freedom of speech they willingly silence.

Like someone already said, by their actions. A Christian will not participate in the office gossip, will not make a fool of themselves at the office holiday party, will always treat people with respect and charity in their work relationships, etc. In other words, they live out their faith to the best of their abilities even when it doesn’t seem like any body is paying attnetion or they can’t say anything with words or religious articles dispayed in their work place. They live their faith for all to see.

Is this the degree we are called to evangelize? I mean- I know we are to act based on our “station” but what does that mean? Any Church teaching? And how is their good behavior distinguished from being a good Jew, Muslim, Hindu?
