Were baptisms done before the crucifixion and ressurrection?

Baptism with water began with John the Baptist. Baptism with forgiveness and the Spirit began with the early Church.

Christian Baptism has it’s roots in the Jewish practice of Mikveh. The Jewish Mikveh literally means any gathering of waters, The building of the mikveh was so important in ancient times it was said to take precedence over the construction of a synagogue. The Mishnah attributes to Ezra a decree that each male should have a Mikveh before prayers. This would put it hundreds of years before John the Baptist.

The Apostles were too deep in both mourning the death of their Lord and trying to celebrate the Passover in spite of their loss the were probably in no mood to baptize.

But you can be sure, according to Acts 2, they did plenty of them on Pentecost (3000) and afterwards.

Your question reminds me of my own reaction when reading the bible as a young teenager. I had decided to read it cover to cover. Then I noticed how the word baptize was suddenly used without any introduction. (A good novel would never do that.) I know what it meant but I wondered where it came from.

the bible was never meant to be read cover to cover, Like would you go to a library and start reading every book from one side of a shelf to the other? No, the bible is a collection of books. (Just sayin’)
