I recently learned that the First Vatican Council, while adjourned in 1870, was not officially closed until 1960.
My question is, hypothetically, were the Catholics in this time period bound to the doctrines of the council. If so, at what point are we bound to the statements made by a council.
If not, could this be used as an argument against Sedevacantism, since they often cite Vatican 1, even though it was closed by a “Heretical Anti-Pope”
