I have asked 4 different priests and gotten four different answers…if you give something up for lent, when can you resume eating it. I know that lent is 40 days and that giving something up is voluntary BUT I want to follow the teachings of the church on when I can resume it and I can’t seem to get the official word…

Hi,

There is no official word on when one ends one’s private sacrifices because they are private and one determines what one wants to do.

Since Lent ends at the beginning of the Triduum, one could end them on Holy Thursday.
However, this wouldn’t make much sense, since Good Friday is the Day our Lord suffered the most.

The day that makes the most sense is Easter Sunday when He rose from the dead. That is the day for celebration.
